SimpleTech to WebCast Conference Call Discussing Third Quarter 2005 Results
SANTA ANA, Calif., Oct. 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- SimpleTech, Inc. (Nasdaq:STEC) today scheduled its earnings release and an open Webcast conference call to discuss its results for the Third quarter ended September 30, 2005. A news release discussing the company's performance during this quarter will be issued just after the market close on November 7, 2005. The Webcast conference call will take place that same day at approximately 1:30 p.m., Pacific/4:30 p.m., Eastern.
SCA's Efficiency Enhancement Program Started -- Effects in the Third Quarter
STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- SCA's initial information and negotiation process for the previously announced efficiency enhancement program has proceeded faster than planned. As a result, earnings in the third quarter will be charged with the program's entire restructuring costs totaling SEK 4,900 M, of which write-downs account for SEK 2,300 M.
Securitas Systems Acquisition in the U.S.
STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Securitas Security Systems in the United States has acquired Hamilton Pacific L.P., Pasadena, Calif. Hamilton Pacific is one of the leading providers of security solutions to banks and financial institutions in the U.S. It has a leading position in California with 15 additional locations throughout the U.S. serving up to 22 states. Hamilton Pacific is providing electronic security systems, bank security equipment, vaults and ATMs to many of the major financial institutions. Forecasted sales for Hamilton Pacific in 2005 are MUSD 47 (MSEK 362) with an employee base of 225. The company is profitable and will contribute positively to the result before tax of the Securitas Group going forward. The final purchase price of the acquisition will depend upon the financial performance of Hamilton Pacific during 2005 and the price is currently anticipated to be at the same level as the annual sales for 2005.
Bernt Magnusson to leave Skandia
STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Bernt Magnusson today informed Skandia's Board of Directors that he has decided to resign from the Board. The Board has appointed Lennart Jeansson as its new Chairman.
Galapagos Obtains U.S. Patent Protecting its Discovery Platform
MECHELEN, Belgium and LEIDEN, Netherlands, Oct. 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Galapagos (Euronext Amsterdam:GLPGA) (Euronext Brussels:GLPG), today announced that it received a Notice of Allowance of a third U.S. patent, related to "High throughput screening of gene function using adenoviral libraries for functional genomics applications." Whereas the first two granted U.S. patents claimed the adenoviral library and the method of producing such library, this third patent protects the method of determining the function of a nucleic acid; moreover, it extends the patent life until 2019. In 2004, the European patent office granted Galapagos a patent with similar claims that remained unchallenged during the opposition period, and in May 2005 Galapagos was granted the corresponding Japanese patent.
