Record Numbers of Holiday Shoppers Use SalesMountain.com to Find Offline Sales

40,000 Consumers on Internet-based Independent Sales Guide in mid-December; Most Requested Items are Consumer Electronics, Pokemon and Women's Apparel

LOS ANGELES, December 22, 1999 (PRIMEZONE) - SalesMountain.com, an Internet site focused on helping consumers nationwide find all the Sales at their local brick-and-mortar stores and online stores, reported today that traffic to its site has soared by more than 1,000 percent during the holiday shopping season, with more than 40,000 consumer visitors anticipated for the latter part of December.

The Internet site reported that consumers were most interested in finding Sales for consumer electronics including digital cameras and DVD players, and, not surprisingly, Pokemon-related toy items. Consumers also sought Sales information for women's apparel in record numbers on the site. The "top ten" most requested SalesMountain Sales categories during the first half of December included:

   1. Consumer electronics
   2. Apparel - women's
   3. Toys and games
   4. Apparel - men's
   5. Home furnishings
   6. Home appliances
   7. Gifts and specialty
   8. Sports & Outdoors
   9. Computer - Hardware

The Internet site also reported that the most requested search word on its site during the past two weeks was "Christmas." Other frequently used search words were "shoes," "holiday," "Pokemon," "Sony," "digital camera," "DVD," "clothes," and "toys." Another popular area on SalesMountain has been the "Free Gift With Purchase" section, which focuses primarily on fragrances.

Launched in July, SalesMountain.com is "The Nation's Instant Sales Guide (sm)". It is an impartial Sales database containing thousands of Sales and special deals for products and services that consumers can search by product, service, category, store, price, and brand. Listings are updated continuously to provide Sales lovers with the most comprehensive, up-to-the-minute information possible. SalesMountain.com is free for a limited time to vendors who want to post their Sales information and consumers and requires no user registration.

SalesMountain.com includes more than 40,000 Sale items, and more than 10,000 brands from 10,000 chains and stores in 125,000 locations across the country.

"Consumers are quickly finding out that our comprehensive Sales listings allow them to come to one place and gather the Sales information they need to make the best purchase decision, regardless of whether they are buying offline or online," said Charles Hymowitz, Managing Director of Technology and Marketing. "Using ZIP Codes, consumers can personalize their searches for their own communities."

"Because of our relationships, SalesMountain has a large number of fresh national retailers' Sales that are not available anywhere else on the Web," said Lee Weinberg, Managing Director of Business Development and Sales. "Even those national retailers' very own Web sites don't show some of these Sales."

To use SalesMountain.com, shoppers simply enter a ZIP Code to localize information to their preferred shopping area. They may then choose to browse either by product, service, store, or brand, or use a search function to find specific items. Coupon data is fully integrated into the Sales database allowing users to choose from search results featuring both coupon and non-coupon based Sales. Listings of local Sales events are also available. Individual Sale items are displayed with store location, brand, pricing information, disclaimers, product description, images (when available) and Sales dates.
