Startup.wsj.com to Feature New PR/Marketing Column for Entrepreneurs

PRINCETON, N.J., Feb. 15, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Startup.wsj.com, The Wall Street Journal's free online entrepreneurial center, announced that it will feature a new monthly column on public relations and marketing strategies starting in March.

Written by Edward Segal, author of "Getting Your 15 Minutes of Fame, and More: A Guide to Guaranteeing Your Business Success" (John Wiley, 2000), the column will cover public relations and marketing strategies, tactics and techniques for executives of startup companies and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Topics to be covered in the PR/Marketing column include: how to make effective presentations to investors; selecting and working with advertising and public relations agencies; and how to prepare business marketing plans.

Segal, who conducts media interview training and presentation skills training workshops for corporations and organizations, is a Washington, D.C.-based public relations consultant who has worked for more than 500 clients in dozens of industries and professions. His clients have included high tech startup corporations in Silicon Valley and high profile companies in the telecommunications, software, computer, hospitality, airline, retail and nonprofit sectors.

Segal previously served as a press secretary to several members of Congress on Capitol Hill, and was a campaign aide to presidential and congressional candidates.

"Startup.wsj.com is a great place to find sound advice on how to finance and run a business, find venture capital, and locate business opportunities, capital and businesses for sale," said Tony Lee, general manager and editor in chief of Startup.wsj.com.
