STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 6, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The new Volvo (Nasdaq:VOLVY) Trucks product range is being unveiled to the truck world at the RAI European Road Transport Show 2002 in Amsterdam.

The roughly 200,000 visitors to the show, which lasts from 7 to 16 February, will be able to see a representative selection of the new trucks, boasting improvements in safety, driver's environment, transport economy, fuel consumption and environmental performance.

The company's three new models - the Volvo FH12, Volvo FM12 and Volvo FM9 - represent one of the largest product renewal projects ever. The new engine range encompasses three economical engines of 9 and 12 litres, with power outputs up to 500 hp.

The total investment, which amounts to 5.5 billion kronor (about 600 million Euro) includes a new automatic gearchanging system, new electronic system, new chassis range, new cab variant, renewed exterior with improved aerodynamics and a new interior.

The new truck range was developed to give customers the most profitable truck on the market and to meet the demand for good transport and fuel economy, along with a low environmental impact and high safety.

Customers and the trade press alike gave the new releases a very enthusiastic welcome.
