Havertys Furnishes Showrooms and Distribution Centers with Neoware Thin Client Appliances

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Feb. 11, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Neoware Systems (Nasdaq:NWRE), the leading supplier of award-winning software, services, and solutions for the Appliance Computing market, today announced that Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc., one of the nation's largest furniture retailers with over 100 stores in 14 Southern and Central states, has standardized on Neoware's thin client appliances and ezRemote Manager software. Havertys is the latest addition to the growing list of retail organizations that have standardized on Neoware's Appliance Computing architecture, building Neoware's lead in the retail market.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., Havertys needed to upgrade their network and to give additional information/computing functionality to more of their employees in a growing number of remote locations. Neoware's cost-effective thin client appliances provide the needed flexibility and simplicity that Havertys required, coupled with centralized management and cost-savings. National Business Group, an authorized reseller for Neoware Systems located in Atlanta, Ga., has been instrumental with the selection and installation of Neoware's products within Havertys' facilities. Havertys intends to deploy Neoware appliances throughout the organization on an ongoing basis, with nearly 3,000 total units to be deployed, many of which will replace outdated personal computers.

Neoware's thin client appliances and management software enable Havertys to run Windows applications on centralized Citrix(r) servers via the ICA(r) protocol. In addition, Havertys needed more security than PCs provide, requiring the ability to lock-down desktops from unauthorized changes. Furthermore, Neoware's software and thin client appliances provide a local Internet browser, supporting Havertys' web-based applications across their network, including Internet, Intranet, and email.

Havertys is managing the thin client appliances with Neoware's ezRemote Manager software, a powerful suite of central management tools that allows system administrators to remotely discover, configure, upgrade, and maintain their thin client appliances without traveling from desk to desk or building to building as would be needed if PCs were used. The combination of Neoware's thin client appliances and enterprise-class ezRemote Manager software results in significant savings of time and money for large enterprises.

"Havertys demands excellence in the products and technologies that support its distributed network. Neoware was able to meet that standard of excellence with a complete solution," stated Mark Flom, account executive at National Business Group, Neoware's business partner.

"Neoware's products enable us to run all of our existing Windows-based applications, plus deliver new Internet applications to our showrooms and distribution centers while lowering total-cost-of-ownership and providing completely centralized management," stated Pat Zurica, LAN manager for Havertys. "In addition, Neoware and NBG provide us with excellent support. This partnership enables Neoware to meet the demanding needs of our business today and in the future, as we continue to expand and grow."
