St. Patrick's Day Pak: The Party Goddess Offers 'Green' Tips for St. Patrick's Day

PASADENA, Calif., Feb. 22, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- (PRIMEPAK FEATURE) Legend says that if you catch a leprechaun that you can force him to tell you where he buries his treasure! Legend also says that if you follow party tips from The Party Goddess, a goddess of party coordination, that your holiday celebration will be a jolly ol' success.

"Holidays typically have a theme or color that is associated with that specific holiday, and St. Patrick's Day is no different," said Marley Majcher, chief creative officer, The Party Goddess. "When we think of St. Patrick's Day, we typically think of green shamrocks, green leprechauns and wearing something green so that you don't get pinched," she said.

Since the theme for St. Patrick's Day is 'Green,' The Party Goddess offers the following tips to add a little green to your St. Patrick's Day celebration.

-- Green Martinis with Green Sugared Rims -- these wonderfully
appealing drinks are fun to make and fun to drink! Just add three
parts Apple de kuyper to 1 part vodka, and shake in a martini
shaker with ice. Sugar the rim by putting superfine sugar in a
Ziploc bag with a drop of food coloring. Seal the bag and mix the
sugar and food coloring until the color is an even green. Then
pour the sugar onto a plate, wet the rim of the glass with a
lime, and dip the glass into the sugar.

-- Green Veggies with a Cool Dipping Sauce -- Get creative! Just add
broccoli, scallions, green olives, green peppers, sliced
cucumbers -- anything green -- to a party tray. Then make your
own dipping sauce or buy your favorite and add a little green
     food coloring.

-- Green Fondue - with Green Apples -- Fondue is making a comeback!
Dip those green apple slices into some amazing cheese fondue,
     colored green of course.

-- Green Lentils and Hors d' Oeuvres -- Take a bag of dried green
lentils and evenly cover the bottom of a passing tray. Place your
choice of hors d'oeuvres on top.

-- Neon Green Cupcakes -- Make the frosting neon colored and top
with your favorite silly green candy or crystallized sugar.

-- Lemongrass Skewers -- They're green and you can skewer just about
anything with them! Try shrimp, beef and chicken.

-- Green Olive Slices in Ice Cubes -- Slice some green olives and
freeze one slice into each ice cube. Creates a nice effect in a
     clear vodka drink!

-- Artichoke and Green Apple Votives -- Carve out the center of
green apples and artichokes and place a tea light into each.

-- Green Moss -- Get it at your local crafts store or garden center
and use it on your buffet, under your votives; anywhere you would
     normally place decor.

-- Wheat Grass -- Use it everywhere in lieu of flowers and other
     centerpieces.

"St. Patrick's Day is all about having fun," said Majcher. "Just be creative and think green. Everything else will fall into place."
