Bright Star Appoints Dale A. Sketchley, M.Sc., P. Geo., to Develop Quality Control and Quality Assurance Program

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 2, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Management of Bright Star Ventures Ltd. ("Bright Star") (CDNX:BSV) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dale A. Sketchley, M.Sc., P.Geo. (Acuity Management Ltd.) to develop and implement a Quality Control and Quality Assurance program for the 2002 exploration season on Bright Star's Tulameen Project, located in southwestern B.C.

Sketchley will assist Bright Star's Vice President of Exploration, Bill Yeomans, B.Sc., P. Geo., in developing appropriate sampling, quality control and quality assurance protocols essential for developing sound geological models and exploration strategies.

Sketchley's twenty-six years of geological experience range from early stage exploration evaluations to managing the geological portion of open pit and underground feasibility studies at producing mines, where he contributed to geological modeling and resource estimation while improving geological procedures and quality of data. He also specializes in designing sampling protocols for collection of high-integrity data, identifying quality control issues, and recommending solutions to ensure industry standards. He has worked in numerous North American mining camps for Placer Dome and McWatters Mining. A partial list of advanced projects and mines he has worked at include the Sigma, Dome, Musselwhite, Detour Lake and Campbell Mines in Ontario, and the Mt. Milligan Project in B.C. His degrees, from The University of British Columbia, were granted in 1975 (B.Sc. Hons geology & geophysics) and 1986 (M.Sc. Geol.).

Sketchley utilizes modern software applications to develop and apply the best technical models possible. His efforts will ensure that Bright Star's field work is given strong support in the planning and execution stages, while adhering to or exceeding industry standards for the collection of high-integrity data, statistical analysis of data, and reporting to NI 43-101 disclosure standards.

On another matter, Bright Star announces that 562,500 escrowed common shares have been cancelled pursuant to the terms of the escrow agreement; thereby reducing the number of issued and outstanding shares accordingly.
