Micronic Introduces Sweeping Enhancements to MP80+ Large Area Photomask Pattern Generator

TABY, Sweden, Dec. 17, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Micronic Laser Systems AB (Other OTC:MICLF) (Stockholm:MICR), a leading manufacturer of laser pattern generation equipment for the semiconductor and display industries, today announced a series of enhancements for the MP80+ multi-purpose laser mask pattern generator. With an increased maximum resolution capability of 2 microns, this versatile tool can be used for a greater range of precision large area photomask applications, including advanced wafer level packaging and passive matrix LCDs.

The specifications of the MP80+ have been improved primarily in the area of line width uniformity and overlay. The system features a new optical head design that allows exposure to edge of the substrate. Further enhancement is the introduction of an optional "golden plate function" that allows for calibration of the system to a reference grid allowing for a higher registration performance. The MP80+ has an ACO (Automatic Changeable Optics) option that allows automatic change of resolution between each mask.

"These enhancements make the MP80+ an extremely versatile product, capable of serving a large number of mask applications," said Jorge Freyer, Sr. vice president for marketing & business development of Micronic Laser Systems. "The wide range of resolution levels and the choice of chrome, emulsion or combination, results in a very flexible system that can be tailored to the customer's requirements."
