coaXmedia Expands Capabilities of Series 6000; Hotel guests and apartment dwellers will experience faster, more robust system

DULUTH, Ga., June 17, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- coaXmedia, a worldwide leader in broadband access technology for hotels and MDUs, announced the launch of the new Series 6100.

The Series 6100 is the next-generation hardware/software platform built from enhancements to the current Series 6000 system. coaXmedia's patented technology solution utilizes a building's existing TV cable to distribute high-speed Internet access throughout a property.

The 6100 system will include faster processing speeds, a newly designed and smaller access appliance (SD3 Series), dual power supplies and a comprehensive software solution to provide true plug-and-play capabilities for the user. In another innovative approach to meet hotel guest requirements, coaXmedia is introducing a cost-effective wireless access point (WAP) to provide 802.11b connectivity in common areas for hotspot applications.

The enhancements to the Series 6000 system are due primarily to a surge in the demand for the system, according to Global VP of Sales and Marketing, Lynn Agnes. "Over the past year, hoteliers and providers to the industry have widely accepted coaXmedia's technology, as a simple, highly robust and cost-effective solution that really works and is easily implemented. High-speed Internet access is a required hotel amenity for business travelers, whether in Seoul, Mexico City or San Jose," she said. "coaXmedia has installed this proven and affordable solution in older hotels as well as in new properties without the need to re-wire or upgrade the cable system and with minimal disruption to hotel operation."

"The Series 6100 extends the technology platform that coaXmedia has established in the hospitality market place. Higher effective speeds, the ability to support hotspot applications and redundant power have been added to enhance the product's position as the most viable, economical way to enable broadband connectivity in a variety of MDU environments, regardless of the video carrier in any given property," said company Founder and CEO, Dan Seitam.

coaXmedia has installed in brand hotels in the U.S., Mexico City, Latin America, Shanghai and Korea, providing them with high-speed Internet service without making a large capital investment.
