Riverhead Networks Adds Seasoned Silicon Valley Executive to Board

Vivek Ragavan, President and CEO of Atrica Inc., Joins DDoS Detection and Mitigation Solution Provider


CUPERTINO, Calif., Dec. 10, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Riverhead Networks(tm), a leading provider of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) solutions that ensure business continuity for ISPs, data centers and large enterprises, today announced that Vivek Ragavan, president and CEO of Atrica Inc., the leader of optical Ethernet vision, technology and products for the rapidly expanding Metro networking market, has joined its board of directors.

Silicon Valley Veteran

Mr. Ragavan, a veteran of numerous Silicon Valley firms, has more than 20 years of executive management experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to Atrica, Mr. Ragavan served as president and CEO of Redback Networks (Nasdaq:RBAKQ), which he joined in March 2000 through Redback's $4.3 billion acquisition of Siara Systems, where he served as the president and CEO.

Before founding Siara, Mr. Ragavan served as president of ADC Telecommunications' (Nasdaq:ADCT) Residential Broadband Group, where he ran the company's broadband communication access and transport businesses. Previously, Mr. Ragavan was vice president of Engineering at General Instrument, where he led the company's development of a leading digital video transport system. Mr. Ragavan holds a BSEE from Northwestern University and an MSEE from Cornell University.
