Olixir Technologies Expands Mobile DataVault Family Of Durable Hard Drives With Launch Of Ultra-Rugged Portable External Hard Drive

High-Capacity, High-Performance Mobile DataVault 2LX External Hard Drive Exceeds MIL-STD-810F Transit Drop Test Requirement Making It An Ideal Solution For Reliable, Shock-Protected Storage of Critical Data for Commercial and Federal Government Markets

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Olixir Technologies, a provider of technologically advanced ruggedized, portable data storage solutions, today expanded its popular Mobile DataVault family of ruggedized external hard drives with the launch of the Mobile DataVault 2LX External Hard Drive at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show. The first product to be released in Olixir's new ultra-rugged Mobile DataVault Series 2 product line, the Mobile DataVault 2LX, exceeds the MIL-STD-810F transit drop test requirements (Method 516, Procedure IV) establishing a new level of ruggedization for external data storage devices.

The ultra-rugged high-capacity Mobile DataVault 2LX meets and exceeds the demanding, and sometimes hostile, data storage environments of applications such as military field storage, mobile video surveillance, video editing, HIPAA-compliant records retention, offsite data archival, and disaster recovery, by delivering a high-capacity disk drive in a lightweight 12.5 ounce package that is as compact as a VHS tape, but tough enough to withstand numerous 6 FOOT drops.

Compatible with Olixir's USB 2.0, Firewire and Serial ATA interface cables, the 5400 RPM DataVault 2LX incorporates an 8 MB cache enabling users to transfer up to one GB of data in under 40 seconds. This portable external drive can also be used with Olixir's 5.25" docking bay, which is often preferred for applications requiring frequent removeability. Also available with a desktop Plug-and-Play USB 2.0/Firewire chassis, the Mobile DataVault 2LX is an ideal, easy-to-use tape drive replacement solution for data backup and archival for small- and medium-sized enterprises.

"In our lab tests, the Mobile DataVault 2LX has been shown to survive more than 75 drops from three to six feet at all directions. It has been certified to easily exceed the challenging MIL-STD-810F transit drop test requirements," explained Darshan Shah, President of Olixir Technologies. "The availability of our ultra-rugged Series 2 drives is creating excitement among our resellers as it ushers in the next generation of portable storage technology. Because the ultra-durable Mobile DataVault 2LX exceeds military transit drop test standards, it provides users with a data storage solution that keeps data extremely safe. Hard drive manufacturers cite handling as a leading cause of damage; This new drive significantly decreases this reliability concern through extremely high durability."
