CARSON CITY, Nev., May 23, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Gateway Access Solutions, Inc. (Pink Sheets:GWYA), a provider of wireless broadband solutions, announced today that the company in conjunction with SOHO Wireless, the Danville Business Alliance and merchants in the downtown area has deployed several Wi-Fi Hot Spots along the Mill Street corridor in downtown Danville PA providing businesses, shoppers and visitors to the area with High Speed Internet Access. The service was introduced during the cities annual Spring Fling Event which took place on Mill Street May 7th. Attendees of the event with Wi-Fi ready laptops or PDA's were provided with free coupons to try the service. GWYA also set up a booth for demonstrating not only the Wi-Fi Services but also GWYA's standard commercial services. Short-term access to wireless Internet connections can be provided to customers of Alliance businesses as a premium to attract business to a restaurant or bookstore, for instance. Subscriptions payable by credit card for immediate authorization are also available for one day, one month or longer periods.
GWYA, the Business Alliance and local merchants will be adding features and services to the initial offering which will include menus on the splash page listing local events, restaurants, hotels and current events. Internet Phone Service (VoIP) will be added in the future allowing users to not only make standard phone calls but to readily call local businesses supporting this program.
The Borough of Danville is presently engaged in a downtown revitalization project to attract visitors and shoppers to this beautiful historical area. Providing Wi-Fi Internet Access in the downtown area is aimed at supporting this project and bringing recognition to the area as a progressive place to visit, live and work. Until recently Wi-Fi Hot spots have only been available in larger cites. With today's technologies, smaller cities such as Danville, PA can now enjoy the same services.
