WayPoint Biomedical Signs Multi-Year Agreement With Security on Campus to Market and Promote WayPoint's Drink Detective Drug-Spiking Detection Kit to U.S. Colleges and Universities

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Aug. 31, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- WayPoint Biomedical Corporation (Pink Sheets:WYPB) has signed a multi-year agreement with King of Prussia, PA based Security on Campus, Inc. to market and promote WayPoint's Drink Detective(tm) detection kit. Under the terms of the agreement, Security on Campus will e-mail a message drafted by their Executive Director, Catherine Bath, to key campus security decision makers at more than 1,000 different U.S. Colleges.

The electronic mailing will explain why it is important for schools to make the Drink Detective(tm) drink-spike detection kit available to both students and Campus Security personnel nationwide. The program will allow schools to directly order discounted product online by following links posted at regular intervals throughout the communication. It will also incorporate supportive links for additional information on the Security on Campus (www.securityoncampus.org) and Drink Detective(tm) USA (www.drinkdetectiveusa.com) websites. The mailing will be followed up via telephone to help further explain and support the product and program, increasing the potential for additional sales.

Catherine Bath, the Executive Director of Security on Campus, Inc., commented, "We feel very strongly that the Drink Detective(tm) can help prevent date-rape and potentially save student's lives. This is not just a kit to detect drugs; it is a program focused on solving a critical societal problem, which is rapidly becoming a major concern, not only on college campuses, but also at social gathering establishments around the world. The test kit combined with education on deterrence and enhanced student awareness can shift the risk away from the victims and back to the criminals who are spiking the drinks. With the fall semester about to begin for most schools, it is the perfect time to introduce this product and a drink spiking awareness campaign to the schools."

WayPoint President and COO Bret Hendzel added, "We are very excited about the program with Security on Campus and believe that our cooperative efforts have the potential to positively address a difficult problem. We just received our first shipment of Drink Detective(tm) kits, our awareness brochures and posters are complete, and we are now filling orders and shipping product. Based on previous Security on Campus promotional campaign success, we believe this program has the potential to generate $300,000 to $500,000 over the next twelve months."

The Drink Detective(tm):

The Drink Detective(tm) provides a revolutionary new tool to fight drink spiking, along with providing enhanced public awareness, and a true deterrent to the crime. This highly affordable, credit card sized test kit can be used to detect over sixty different illicit drugs, including Ketamine, GHB and Rohypnol(r), that can be used for spiking alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks. WayPoint intends to market "Drink Detective" through its network of qualified distributors into national pharmacy retailers, government agencies, schools, law enforcement, foundations, hotel and gaming establishments, convenience stores, support groups, and via e-commerce.

The Drink Detective(tm) recently won the prestigious "Best of What's New 2004" award for the Personal Health category in Popular Science Magazine. The Drink Detective(tm) has also aired on the nationally syndicated "Life & Style" program by Sony Pictures Television in February 2005, detailing the socially awareness of "Date Rape" and how the Drink Detective can assist in preventing such criminal activity.
