Cereplast Sponsors the Surfrider Foundation's 2005 South Bay Chapter Luau Fundraiser

Meal to be served on Nat-UR service ware -- 100 percent compostable and biodegradable plastics

HAWTHORNE, Calif., Nov. 17, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Cereplast(tm), Inc. (OTCBB:CERP) the producer of proprietary bio-based resins which are used as substitutes for petroleum-based plastics, announced the Company's sponsorship of the Surfrider Foundation's 2005 Chapter Luau Fundraiser.

Attendees of the 2005 Luau Fundraiser on November 17, 2005 in Hermosa Beach (CA) will enjoy a self-serve buffet using Cereplast's Nat-UR(tm) products. All of the plates and utensils being used at this event are created from a revolutionary material called Cereplast.

Although the Nat-UR(tm) food service ware looks identical to traditional plastic food service ware, Cereplast uses American corn, an annually renewable resource, as raw material instead of relying on petroleum, thus reducing the need for dependency on foreign oil. The production of Cereplast uses less fossil fuel and emits fewer greenhouse gasses than comparable petroleum-based plastics.

Cereplast-made products are 100% biodegradable and compostable. For example, food utensils made from Cereplast resins can be sent to a compost site and will undergo biodegradation within less than 60 days, leaving no harmful residues and creating "compost," a rich soil amendment.

"Like regular plastic ware, Cereplast is sturdy and strong and just as convenient to use," said Frederic Scheer, Cereplast's CEO. "But with Cereplast, consumers can take pride in using a product made from a domestic raw material that can be re-grown every year."
