Phantom Technologies: Control Your Internet with a New and Simple Security Device; No Software Necessary

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 29, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- A cadre of security experts from Phantom Technologies have developed a new, groundbreaking design called the iBoss, a unique device that allows control of Internet activities in chat programs, online games and Web sites. With the iBoss, parents can monitor their children's activities; businesses can block unwanted Web sites, and people can control their online communications. Hardware network activity control with the breakthrough iBoss now gives private homes and small businesses the same cyberspace control that was once the exclusive domain of large companies.

Security has become a major concern for Internet users. A recent report on MSNBC revealed that 50,000 child predators prowl the Internet at all hours of the day. Families and small businesses can now address safety concerns at home with children as well as in the workplace with employees. Instead of having to install complex and costly software, people can use the simple yet sophisticated iBoss to regain control of their Internet activity.

"Our uncomplicated hardware device covers an entire network without having to install any software at all. Our team of tech experts brainstormed and spent many hours designing iBoss to be a simple security device that makes Internet use safer and far more efficient. What's more, it is available to all Internet users, not just large companies. It's going to change the way predators and scammers can access the Internet and make homes and small businesses safer on the Internet," said Phantom Technologies designer and CEO Paul Martini.

iBoss works through a Web browser where users can block categories of Web sites, schedule the use of online games, chats, download files and block any unwanted online activity or communication. iBoss stands guard against phishing scams and helps control spy ware. It is tamper-resistant through the ability to notify users if it is powered down. It works as a private eye, detailing logs of activities on the network including time and attempted violations. iBoss, as a secret secretary schedules Internet usage and Internet sleep time as dictated by the user.

"The Freescale ColdFire MCF5475 microcontroller provides Phantom's iBoss device with the critical processing elements demanded by consumer hardware devices -- speed, security and versatility," said John Sansing, 16/32-bit Consumer & Industrial Business operations manager, Freescale Semiconductor. "ColdFire's long-standing ability to offer performance-driven products continues to grow as Freescale powers cutting-edge consumer electronics devices, such as the iBoss."

Users who have tried the new device sing its praises for different uses. Radio personalit, Leo Laporte, and star of G4 Tech TV Show said, "I highly recommend iBoss which is going to revolutionize the market as the first of its kind. I will connect iBoss in my home."

Attorney John Dean of San Diego said, "iBoss is a great tool to take back your Internet."

The iBoss is designed from scratch in the U.S and has several patents pending.
