LOS ANGELES, Jan. 30, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has appointed four vice presidents to key positions within the company's newly formed Technical Services sector, effective immediately.

David S. Harvey has been appointed vice president of business management and chief financial officer; William E. Carty has been appointed vice president and controller; Edgar A. Smith has been appointed as vice president, assistant general counsel and sector counsel; and Louise Ussery has been appointed vice president of human resources and administration.
Formed in January 2006 to address the rapidly expanding logistics support, sustainment and technical services market, the Technical Services sector consolidated multiple programs and approximately 10,000 employees from within the company's other business sectors.

Cameron, corporate vice president and president of the Technical Services sector. "Their talents will be essential as we expand our capabilities to meet our customers' needs and build the business to its full potential."
Harvey will manage the business management and chief financial officer functions, reporting to Cameron. He served most recently as vice president of business management for the Defensive and Navigation Systems Division at Northrop Grumman's Electronic Systems sector. Harvey joined the company in 1980 and has held a number of increasingly responsible positions within finance and business management. He earned a bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in finance from Loyola College of Maryland. In addition, he has completed executive education programs including the General Manager's program at Harvard University, the Executive Course in Corporate Strategy at MIT and the Executive Development Program at the University of Maryland Aspen Institute.
Carty will oversee sector financial operations including financial planning and reporting, pricing, regulatory compliance, accounting, and ensure compliance with internal control practices and company policies and procedures. He will report to Harvey. Carty joined Northrop Grumman in 1987. Previously, he served as director, business operations and CFO for technical services at Northrop Grumman Information Technology. Carty earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Rollins College and an M.B.A. degree from the Florida Institute of Technology.
Smith will serve as legal counsel for the sector, reporting to W. Burks Terry, corporate vice president and general counsel, Northrop Grumman Corporation. He served most recently as associate sector counsel at Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector. Smith joined Northrop Grumman in 1978, and previously served as division counsel, director of regulatory affairs and group counsel. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester, and was awarded a J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh. Smith has also completed executive education programs in general management, finance and leadership at Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Virginia.
Ussery will lead the design and implementation of the sector's human resources and administration function, reporting to Cameron. She will provide strategic direction in the development of the sector's work force, including talent acquisition, leadership development and training, employee relations, organizational change and effectiveness, compensation and benefits. Ussery joined Northrop Grumman in 1978 and previously served as director, human resources for technical services at Northrop Grumman Information Technology. She received an associate degree in applied science from the State University of New York and is completing a bachelor of science degree in business management. Ussery also completed the Wharton School of Business Executive Finance Program.
