Northrop Grumman Appoints David R. Apt Director of Communications for Technical Services


HERNDON, Va., March 23, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has named David R. Apt director of communications for the company's Technical Services Sector.

In this position, Apt is responsible across the full spectrum of the sector's communications functions, including media relations, marketing communications, advertising, and executive and employee communications.

"He has extensive 'on-the-ground' experience having spent years serving this great nation of ours in uniform, and now in this new role will help ensure that our Northrop Grumman Technical Services/customer partnership continues to grow and continues to offer mutually beneficial results."

The Technical Services sector was formed in January 2006 to capitalize on, enhance and grow Northrop Grumman's core competencies in the rapidly expanding logistics, sustainment, training support and technical services market. The sector consolidated multiple programs and approximately 10,000 employees from within the company's seven other business sectors.

Apt brings more than 30 years of communications and leadership experience and expertise from positions within industry, the Department of Defense and the U.S. Army. Most recently, he served in the company's land forces field marketing office. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, Apt commanded the Army Broadcasting Service, comprised of the American Forces Network-Europe, the American Forces Network-Korea and the American Forces Network-Honduras. He also served as chief of public affairs for the U.S. Army Forces Command during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/U.S. Forces Korea.

Apt earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, a master's degree in communications from Temple University, and a master's degree in resourcing national security strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Additionally, he completed one year of training with Turner Broadcasting Systems in Atlanta.
