Energy Conservation Technologies, Inc. Develops Business Opportunities at Lightfair International 2006, Las Vegas, Nevada


BOULDER, Colo., June 20, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Energy Conservation Technologies, Inc. (Pink Sheets:ENYC), a landmark technology company ("Econ"), developed new and exciting business opportunities during the 17th Lightfair International held in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 31-June 2.

Lightfair International is a global annual lighting industry event that showcases products and technologies in the lighting industry. In addition to industry giants such as GE more than 550 of the industry's leading companies around the world exhibited their products in this year's Lightfair convention. Many educational seminars were also held for architect, engineers and end-user lighting professionals.

Products and technologies related to Ceramic Metal Halide (CMH) lamps and Light Emitting Diodes (LED) were the primary attractions of this year's exhibits. CMH lamps, one of the newer HID lamp technologies, produce dazzling and vibrant lights with minimum glares. In comparison with halogen lamps, CMH lamps are 3-5 times more energy efficient and last 5-6 times longer. These attractive features of CMH lamps combined with miniature electronic ballasts are beginning to appear in applications in supermarkets and department stores as replacements for halogen lamps. Lower wattage HID electronic ballast sales for this segment of the industry are projected to be tens of millions of units per year.

Econ has been aggressively working to develop business partnerships with reputable companies for the purpose of commercialization of its HID electronic ballasts. During this trade fair, the company demonstrated its products and held discussions with top level management of selective lighting companies, including one of the world's largest lighting fixture and ballast manufacturers. Econ demonstrated the following HID electronic ballasts: 150W and 250W ballast for metal halide and high-pressure sodium lamps and the newest addition -- the miniature 70W electronic ballast for CMH lamps.

The demonstrations and business discussions with several significant companies exceeded Econ's expectations. Econ is now entering into discussions with goals to develop private labeling, direct sales and joint venture opportunities with major lighting companies now aware of Econ's technology. The next step for pursuing these opportunities is to submit various ballast samples, as requested by these companies.

Lighting is a major contributor of greenhouse gas emissions. More than one third (1/3) of the global electricity production is used for lighting. This necessitates and creates opportunities for efficient and energy saving lighting sources that can potentially save over 100 billion dollars per year.

HID lamps are one of the most efficient artificial light sources and they also have a very long life. These are the primary reasons why HID lamps are used for large area illuminations such as streetlights, airports, warehouses, stadiums and parking garages.
