Waterfront Media Acquires My-Calorie-Counter.com

Dynamic Food Log, Calorie Counting Tools and Extensive Food Database to be Incorporated Into the Company's Everyday Health Network

NEW YORK, April 5, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Waterfront Media today announced the acquisition of My-Calorie-Counter.com, a leading calorie counting and food database site. Waterfront Media will incorporate the site into the Everyday Health Network (whose flagship site is http://www.everydayhealth.com/) which, according to the latest comScore Media Metrix traffic figures, is now the third largest commercial health property, with 6.8 million unique users per month.

"This acquisition furthers our mission of both making the Everyday Health Network the leading health property online and providing consumers with a growing number of unique interactive features that enable them to stay actively engaged in managing their health on a daily basis," Waterfront Media CEO and Co-founder Ben Wolin said. "My-Calorie-Counter provides users with a great suite of tools and content to make calorie counting more effective and we look forward to integrating the site and tools throughout the Everyday Health Network."

My-Calorie-Counter.com enables users to calculate their caloric intake by searching from among 45,000 different fast food, brand name and generic foods in its database, as well as to keep track of calories burned during daily activities and exercise.

In the first two months of the year, the Everyday Health Network was a top-twenty fastest growing property on the Internet, with the number of unique visitors growing more than 39%. According to comScore Media Metrix, February usage figures show the Everyday Health Network attracted more unique visitors than large health information aggregators like AOL Health and Yahoo! Health. The Everyday Health Network is also ranked third in the Women's Category.

The Everyday Health Network provides consumers with health and wellness information from 40 condition centers and showcases 16 nationally-recognized specialists from leading medical institutions including Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital. Highly customizable user options include condition-specific meal plans, a Three-Minute Health Check, dynamically generated shopping lists and blood sugar and cholesterol trackers.
