Great Tastes of Temecula Valley: Affordable and Convenient

TEMECULA, Calif., May 24, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association, in partnership with a San Diego radio station, is making it easy, convenient and affordable to sample premium Temecula wines matched with gourmet hors d' oeuvres.

For $28 per person (including tax) wine lovers can taste great wine from four Temecula wineries and wonderful food at the Great Tastes of Temecula Valley on June 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Falkner Winery, 40620 Calle Contento.

"This is the first of what we hope will be a series of intimate, hands-on events that give the individual a chance to try boutique wines from Temecula in a single location," says Ray Falkner, president of the Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association, event co-sponsor with KCBQ AM 1170.

"It's also a great opportunity for consumers to partake in the Temecula experience at a very affordable price," he said.

The event will feature the premium wines of Falkner, Keyways, Briar Rose and Wilson Creek wineries and creative cuisine samples from The Pinnacle Restaurant.

Representatives from each winery will be on hand to talk about their wines and answer questions. Officials from the Grapeline Wine Country shuttle service and South Coast Winery Resort & Spa will be available to talk about getting around and lodging and spa activities in Wine Country. A night's stay at South Coast and a free ride on the Grapeline will be raffled off at the event.

The day will include live broadcasts by San Diego radio station KCBQ AM 1170 AM.

On hand will be U.S. Navy Rear Adm. John Waickwicz and a color guard from Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

The event is the first time that KCBQ has partnered with a wine region. But with the station's primary audience in the 35-64 wine-appreciating age bracket, it's a "natural fit," said Bonnie Cornwell, the station's marketing advisor.

The Temecula Valley is the premier winemaking region in Southern California. Over the last decade, the number of wineries in Temecula's Wine Country has doubled and more new wineries are in the planning stages. More importantly, the area's reputation for making fine wine is on the rise as local wines continue to win major awards at wine competitions that include well-known domestic and international brands.
