BitWave Semiconductor Hires a 30-Year Wireless Veteran As Vice President of Engineering

Bob Malkemes Joins BitWave Semiconductor

LOWELL, Mass., June 8, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- BitWave Semiconductor, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company and innovator of software defined radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) solutions for the cellular industry, today named Bob Malkemes as its Vice President of Engineering. Malkemes was most recently with LSI Corp., formerly Agere Systems, where he led the design of their state-of-the-art satellite digital baseband IC and oversaw Systems Engineering, RFIC Design and Systems Test activity. Malkemes will direct BitWave's efforts to further develop and productize its Softransceiver(TM) RFIC, a chip-based technology platform that will enable wireless users to seamlessly connect across multiple diverse networks with a single device.

Bob Malkemes is a recognized leader in radio IC development. Over the last 30 years, he has led and contributed to multiple cutting-edge radio programs ranging from low power satellite baseband modems to WiFi ICs to proprietary LAN systems. Malkemes has led and managed both digital and mixed signal development programs and will assume overall responsibility for BitWave's silicon development programs.

"Under Bob's leadership and with his proven track record of getting products to market, we look forward to continued rapid progress as we complete development and begin to deliver our world class radio technology to the global marketplace," said Russ Cyr, CMO of Bitwave Semiconductor. "Bob Malkemes possesses the perfect combination of technical program leadership and radio expertise needed by BitWave to manage the complexity inherent in today's highly integrated SoCs." Bob joins co-founders Russ Cyr, CMO, and Geoff Dawe, CTO, as they begin to build a world class executive management team.

"I look forward to using my experience to help BitWave complete the development and productization of its technology," said Malkemes. "I'm excited to be a part of the BitWave team; I believe that BitWave's Softransceiver RFIC will be an essential component in the next generation of flexible wireless devices."

About BitWave Semiconductor, Inc.

BitWave Semiconductor, Inc., is a fabless semiconductor company and developer of the Soft Transceiver chip. BitWave is implementing its patent pending software defined receiver technology in a single CMOS RFIC chip designed to enable users of standard cell phones, laptops and other mobile devices to communicate across diverse networks. Mobile devices using the Softransceiver can operate on multiple frequencies and communication protocols, giving consumers and businesses a broader choice of networks and services. The Softransceiver will allow network operators to offer services on demand and allow device manufacturers to build a single, low-cost radio that can be used in any network, anywhere. All of these benefits are achieved while decreasing the transceiver price, increasing phone battery life and increasing radio performance.

BitWave's founders have extensive experience in successfully commercializing software-defined radio technology for the cell phone industry. BitWave's IP and technology has been tested and validated in silicon. For more information, go to www.bitwavesemiconductor.com.
