Waste Management Washington Recycling Drivers Approve New Contract

SEATTLE, June 26, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Waste Management Washington announced today that recycling drivers represented by Teamsters Local 117 have overwhelmingly approved a new four-year labor contract.

The new contract commenced June 1, 2007 and covers 117 recycling drivers providing services for homes and businesses in King County and Snohomish County. The company serves more than 265,000 households and 22,000 commercial customers with recycling services in both counties.

"At the outset, we said that we wanted to reach a contract with Local 117 that was positive for all parties, and that is what we have achieved. This contract takes into account the unique needs of our employees, their families and our customers, and is both fair and generous," said Susan Robinson, Waste Management director of Public Sector Services. "We are pleased that we have reached an agreement that is fair to everyone and can continue to focus on our customers."

The new agreement will provide employees with a highly competitive compensation package, support continuous improvement of employee safety, and maintain a positive working environment.
