Steven McArthur Appointed as President of Classmates Online


WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Aug. 13, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- United Online, Inc. (Nasdaq:UNTD), a leading provider of consumer Internet and media services, today announced the appointment of Steven B. McArthur as president of Classmates Online, Inc., a provider of online social networking services, effective August 20, 2007. Classmates Online, Inc. is a subsidiary of United Online's wholly-owned subsidiary Classmates Media Corporation.

McArthur most recently served as president of North American operations for Expedia, a leader in online travel with a portfolio of Internet brands including Expedia, Hotels.com and Hotwire.

Prior to Expedia, McArthur served as executive vice president of Web properties for AOL, where he provided leadership to AOL Web properties such as Netscape.com, Mapquest.com and AOL Instant Messenger. He began his tenure at AOL as President and CEO of AOL Canada.

Previously McArthur served in a variety of executive leadership roles for Maple Leaf Foods, one of Canada's largest food processing companies. At Maple Leaf, McArthur advanced from vice president, corporate development to executive vice president, sales and marketing, and was eventually promoted to become president of Maple Leaf Consumer Foods.

McArthur began his career at Bain & Company, a global leader in strategy consulting services, where he advised clients in the technology, travel, health care and financial services industries. McArthur earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Queen's University, Belfast, and an MBA from Harvard University.
