Radyne's Xicom Technology Receives Over $8.0 million in Amplifier Orders

PHOENIX, Oct. 30, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Radyne Corporation (Nasdaq:RADN) announced today that its Xicom Technology business unit received 2 orders totaling over $8.0 million for millimeter-wave (Ka and Q-band) power amplifiers for use in military terminals. Most of the amplifiers will be used for uplinking with the U.S. Air Force's Wideband Global System (previously known as Wideband Gapfiller) constellation of satellites, the first of which recently launched. Five additional WGS satellites are planned, which will create further demand for Xicom's Ka-band suite of products for military communications applications. A significant portion of these orders are to upgrade previously installed tri-band amplifiers to quad-band with the addition of Ka-band capability.

"These orders demonstrate continued market demand for Xicom's millimeter-wave amplifiers and contributed to a record-setting month for Xicom bookings," said Myron Wagner, Radyne's CEO. "It is encouraging that as the uplink marketplace evolves toward higher frequencies to meet increased bandwidth demands, customers continue to standardize on Xicom amplifiers."
