SAN DIMAS, Calif., Dec. 11, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Wavestream (www.wavestream.com), a manufacturer of compact, highly efficient solid-state power amplifiers, today issued a statement of clarification regarding its recent patent infringement lawsuit against CAP Wireless, Inc., which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Wavestream filed the lawsuit against CAP Wireless because Wavestream believed that CAP Wireless' "Spatium" series of solid-state power amplifiers infringed on patents to which Wavestream is the exclusive licensee pursuant to an agreement with the owner of the patents, the Regents of the University of California.
Wavestream issued the following statement defending its own patent, which has never been challenged:
"As a means to protect the patents we licensed from the University of California, Wavestream was suing CAP Wireless for what we believe was infringement of those patents. Moreover, the validity of the patents licensed from UC has not been affected. In addition, it is important to note that our intellectual property rights in technology developed at Wavestream, whether protected by patents or otherwise, have never been challenged. Further, Wavestream has an ongoing program to develop, enhance and fortify our intellectual property portfolio."
