BitWave Semiconductor and Open-Silicon Enter Into Strategic Partnership

Open-Silicon to Manage Softransceiver RFIC Production

LOWELL, Mass., March 3, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- BitWave Semiconductor, Incorporated today announced a strategic partnership with Open-Silicon, Inc. to bring BitWave's first product, the BW1102 Softransceiver(tm) RFIC, to high-volume production for the femtocell and cellular phone markets.

The strategic partnership assures BitWave's customers of a superior level of customer service, supply chain reliability and product quality. Open-Silicon has repeatedly proven its ability to deliver highly predictable and reliable custom silicon by moving over 100 designs towards production. The collaboration with Open-Silicon will support BitWave as it ramps the Softransceiver to production volume for shipments during 2008.

Dr. Naveed Sherwani, CEO of Open-Silicon, commented, "Open-Silicon is proud of the best-in-breed fab, packaging and production processes and partnerships that our OpenMODEL delivers to companies such as BitWave. It enables fabless IC companies like BitWave to achieve first-time production ramps with high quality and helps ensure that they meet their crucial time to market windows."

Dr. Mike Farese, BitWave's CEO, stated, "Our customers will benefit from this strategic relationship as we ramp BW1102 production for volume customer shipments later this year."

Through this strategic partnership, BitWave will be able to achieve high volume production shipments of the BW1102 Softransceiver RFIC and maintain a focus on its core strengths in advanced RF transceiver design and deployment.
