Consolidated Mercantile Incorporated Reports First Quarter Financial Results


TORONTO, May 12, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- As previously reported, Consolidated Mercantile Incorporated (TSX:CMC) (Pink Sheets:CSLMF) completed the sale of its subsidiary, Distinctive Designs Furniture Inc. ("Distinctive"), and its equity investee, Polyair Inter Pack Inc. ("Polyair"). As a result, the operating results of Distinctive for the three month period ended March 31, 2007 have been classified by the Company as discontinued operations.

Net Earnings for the three months ended March 31, 2008 were $117,363 compared to $522,214 in the comparable 2007 period. Results for the three month period ended March 31, 2007 include the Company's share of equity earnings from Polyair. Earnings per share for the quarter was $0.02 compared with $0.10 in the comparable 2007 period.
