Alternative Construction Technologies Adds Florida Green Building Coalition Green Home Accreditation

Alternative Construction Technologies is Now Qualified as Green Building Certifier

MELBOURNE, Fla., May 22, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Alternative Construction Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:ACCY) announced today that it is now qualified to certify homes that meet The Florida Green Building Coalition's Green Home Designation Standard. The standard applies to new and existing homes and is appropriate for builders, remodelers, homeowners and homebuyers.

The accredited status will enable Alternative Construction Technologies (ACT) to receive fees for inspecting and authenticating a home's compliance with the Florida Green Building Coalition's (FGBC) rigorous green building standards. It will also enable ACT to certify homes constructed with its ACTech(r) Panel System.

Many homeowners are desiring and some insisting that their home be earth friendly, affordable to operate, and healthy to live in. FGBC's Green Home Standard is a tool that guides builders and consumers through the process of selecting green features that are cost effective and benefit the environment without having to alter their habits and tendencies. The standard has been developed such that it is achievable by anyone and is becoming recognized as the statewide industry standard. The FGBC Green Home Standard designates the criteria by which a Florida home, new or existing, can be designated green. Certifying agents can also guide designers, builders or homebuyers through the process of qualifying and documenting these homes.

"This is a natural progression of our business," stated Steve Rechtsteiner, the Construction and Design division Manager. "Due to the energy efficiency values, method of construction and potential integration and combination of renewable energy and collateral green building technologies, the ACTech(r) Panel System can all but assure a green building certification. This is what we aim to provide for all of our customers," he added.

The Florida Green Building Coalition is a nonprofit Florida corporation dedicated to improving the built environment. Their mission is "to provide a statewide green building program with environmental and economic benefits."

Alternative Construction Technologies, Inc. (ACT) possesses a unique and patented construction technology called the ACTech(r) Panel System that is used in the design and erection of state-of-the-art buildings in commercial, residential, industrial and modular building applications, as well as patented safe rooms. Generically known as structural insulated panels (SIPs), ACT's revolutionary and efficient construction solution utilizes an inherently better galvanized steel "skin" SIP system to complete energy efficient, stronger, safer, faster, and more economical structures than conventional wood and brick-based building products. The patented ACTech(r) Panel is environmentally-friendly and easier to construct with -- not only saving labor cost and cutting construction time, but also reducing recurring monthly heating and cooling energy bills consistently by 30-50% and often as much as 70%. Most importantly, the ACTech(r) Panel possesses disaster resistant strength and has tested stronger than conventional concrete block or wood frame construction. In hurricane projectile tests, the ACTech(r) Panel continues to meet the most stringent wind, projectile and uplift codes in the nation levied by the 2006 Florida Building Code. The ACTech(r) Panel System offers builders and consumers many competitive and comparative advantages of use due to its wide range of attributes. As this new construction technology gains awareness, or hurricane and tornado-prone states establish new building codes and rebuild from recent weather disasters, ACT believes its products will be in greater demand. ACT has recently added complementary services including design, consulting, and construction through its various general contracting subsidiaries.
