New Business Tool from Prosci Assesses Change Project Risks

LOVELAND, Colo., June 5, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Prosci, a world leader in change management research, has released a new online tool for determining if change initiatives in business and government will fail or succeed.

Based on Prosci's research with more than a thousand projects, changes that succeed have three common factors. The new PCT Analyzer, based on Prosci's renowned Project Change Triangle (PCT) Model, provides a simple but powerful tool for measuring these three factors for any project. "This is a breakthrough in understanding why projects succeed and why projects fail," stated Jeff Hiatt, CEO of Prosci. "This tool provides a comprehensive look at how leadership, project management and change management interact to produce successful outcomes or costly failures."

The PCT Analyzer is a simple-to-use web application that allows project teams and business leaders to collect data and analyze their risks quickly and easily. The tool enables users to rate their change project in three areas: leadership, project management and change management. To collect assessment data on each of these three critical elements, tool users can input data manually or use a special web-form that ties data to their project and to a particular point in time. Once data is collected, the tool generates a full set of quantitative and qualitative outputs describing the current performance of the project, identifying potential risk areas and providing action steps to advance the project.

"The analysis generated by the new tool is powerful on two fronts," stated Tim Creasey, Director of Research and Development at Prosci. "On the numeric side, the tool calculates summary statistics, like average, maximum and minimum scores for each of the three elements. It provides several graphical representations of this data. It also shows the summary statistics and distribution for each particular question of the assessment. Ultimately, the numbers shed light on the strengths and weaknesses of the change project."

The tool's extensive knowledge base delivers customized recommendations based on the assessment results. "For instance, if the group routinely scores the question about the sponsor's ability to 'build coalitions' low, then the tool provides concrete next steps, discussion and consequences for that factor," said Creasey.

The online PCT Analyzer is now available. Usage cost for up to five projects is $149; unlimited projects usage cost is $349. Find out more at Prosci's PCT Analyzer webpage: http://www.change-management.com/pct-analyzer.htm
