ImageWare Named to SeaPort-e Contract

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 26, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ImageWare Systems, Inc. (PinkSheets:IWSY) announced today that it has been selected for participation on the U.S. Navy's SeaPort Enhanced (SeaPort-e) contract. SeaPort-e is an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract established to facilitate a Navy-wide electronic procurement process that leverages buying power, improves business intelligence, and reduces purchasing time. SeaPort-e supports all commands within the Naval Enterprise Command including the Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Air Systems Command, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, Naval Supply Systems Command, Military Sealift Command, Naval Facilities Command, Strategic Systems Programs, the United States Marine Corps, as well as other Department of Defense agencies.

Imageware is part of a team of highly skilled and experienced companies with proven records of providing engineering solutions. The SeaPort-e team is led by Smart Data Solutions LLC, a veteran owned 8(a) certified small business located in Silver Springs, MD.

This SeaPort-e award provides a simplified contracting platform that will allow IWS and its team members to enter into a streamlined bid and procurement process for task orders released by Naval Enterprise Commands. The government estimates a maximum of $5.3 billion will be spent on products and services under this program. This award has a base period of one year, with two additional award terms for a possible total of ten years.

"We are proud to be part of the Smart Data Solutions team and to receive an award that will provide Imageware with both an excellent contract vehicle and the ability to participate in a very exciting and potentially long term opportunity to partner with the U.S. Navy and a group of top notch government contractors," said Jim Miller, IWS Chairman and CEO. "We expect that the experience and capabilities of our team will result in future task order awards in the areas of research and development, engineering support and software development."

"We feel that our partnership with ImageWare will provide Smart Data Solutions with a very strong competitive edge for winning task orders on SeaPort-e and other 8(a) opportunities. ImageWare Systems Inc. provides a versatile and patented set of products and services that will undoubtedly become a keystone in biometric and identity management requirements under this program," said Orlando Bullock, Chairman and CEO Smart Data Solutions.
