CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - April 2, 2009) - On April 15, the
MIT Enterprise Forum of
Cambridge will feature a keynote presentation with Amazon Web Services'
Adam Selipsky to discuss how businesses can take advantage of cloud
computing services. Following the address, Selipsky and Sim Simeonov of
Polaris Venture Partners will hold a fireside chat to discuss the benefits
of cloud technology as well as the emerging ecosystem of companies to help
utilize cloud products and services.
Following the conversation, Fumi Matsumoto, founder and CTO of Allurent,
and Spike Washburn, founder and CEO of Stax Networks, will demonstrate
their companies' cloud computing services. A panel of experts will continue
the discussion by examining how best to utilize the cloud in the interest
of a company's bottom line.
Speakers:
Adam Selipsky is VP of product management for
Amazon Web Services, a provider of
infrastructure web services platforms that allow developers to create their
own applications. Prior to joining Amazon in 2005, Selipsky worked as a
vice-president for RealNetworks. Earlier, he was a partner at Mercer
Management Consulting. Selipsky is a graduate of Harvard College and holds
a master's degree from Harvard Business School.
Sim Simeonov is a technology advisor at
Polaris Venture Partners, where
he focuses on helping entrepreneurs launch companies in the Internet,
mobile and enterprise space. Previously, Simeonov was a founding member and
chief architect at Allaire, an Internet platform leader. He also served as
VP of emerging technologies and chief architect at Macromedia (now Adobe).
Simeonov has co-founded several startups, most recently San Francisco-based
Plinky.
Demonstrators:
Fumi Matsumoto is founder and CTO of
Allurent, a provider of SaaS solutions
to e-commerce websites. Prior to his work at Allurent, Matsumoto was CTO at
ATG, and earlier worked as a product manager for Motorola. Matsumoto holds
a master's degree from MIT and a bachelor's degree from Cornell University.
Spike Washburn is founder and CEO of
Stax
Networks, a provider of tools and services that assist developers with
web applications through cloud computing. Prior to Stax, Washburn worked as
a software engineer at Microsoft, and earlier was the director of
engineering at Aptana, Inc.
Panelists:
Josh Fraser is VP of business development at
RightScale, a Santa Barbara,
Calif.-based leader in cloud computing management. Previously, Fraser
served as VP of business development at CallWave, a publicly traded
provider of
Internet-and mobile-based unified communications solutions. Fraser holds a
bachelor's degree in finance from Villanova University.
Richard Reiner is CEO and director at
Enomaly, a developer of products and
services in the open source and cloud computing segment. Previously, Reiner
founded Assurent Secure Technologies, a SaaS provider in the IT security
space that was acquired by TELUS in 2006. Prior to the acquisition by
TELUS, Reiner served as Assurent's CEO and CTO. Following the acquisition,
Reiner was TELUS' CSO and CTO. He holds a Ph.D. from York University and
master's and bachelor's degrees from McGill University.
Roman Stanek is founder and CEO of
GoodData, a provider of collaborative
analytic solutions based on Web 2.0 and cloud computing technologies. Prior
to founding GoodData, Stanek was founder and CEO of NetBeans, Inc.,
acquired by Sun Microsystems, and Systinet, Inc., acquired by Mercury
Interactive and later HP. Stanek graduated from the Czech Technical
University in Prague.
Frank Gillett, VP and principal analyst at
Forrester Research, will
moderate the panel discussion.
