BASKING RIDGE, NJ--(Marketwire - May 11, 2009) - Avaya Inc., a leader in business communications applications, systems and services, today announced that it will host a free webinar on May 12 that will detail how enterprises can alleviate the potential impact of pandemics on business operations. The recent concern of the the A/H1N1 virus has increased awareness that businesses need to plan appropriately to be able to keep business operating smoothly during and after an unforeseen event.

The webinar, entitled "Mitigating Impact of Pandemic Risk in the Enterprise," will address best practices for creating a communications continuity plan that allows enterprises to address employee concerns and continue to manage their businesses effectively during these events. It will be hosted by Michael Oliver-Goodwin, contributing editor at VoIP-News, and will include expert guests on healthcare and business continuity from Avaya and Polycom.

On April 29, 2009, the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) issued an elevated pandemic alert regarding A/H1N1 virus. Recognizing that communications are essential to keeping businesses and organizations operational during unexpected events, global communication technology leaders Avaya and Polycom initiated an effort to educate businesses on how to rapidly prepare their communications for this type of emergency.

The "Mitigating Impact of Pandemic Risk in the Enterprise" webinar will be presented on May 12 at 10:00 am (Pacific)/1:00 pm (Eastern).
