Jimmy Rollins Putting His New Wiiings to Good Use

7 Runs, 4 Doubles, 6 RBIs Including a Home Run... and Red Bull Energy Drink... Coincidence?

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwire - July 8, 2009) - Philadelphia Phillies short stop Jimmy Rollins is the first MLB player to be supported by energy drink leader Red Bull. It's an exciting new page in the company's playbook and has proven to be a good asset to Jimmy's game. Red Bull has long been a loyal supporter of top-tier, professional athletes in national and international disciplines, such as NASCAR, Formula One, NFL, NBA and Major League Soccer, as well as action and adventure sports. Red Bull's popularity is soaring higher than ever among fans and players in the major national leagues, so the time is right to welcome a new kind of player and energy to the Red Bull world.

Rollins is a breath of fresh air in the city of Philadelphia. He was welcomed into the Red Bull world by being driven to his top rivalry game against the New York Mets on July 4th in the Red Bull MXT (Military Extreme Truck) -- an oversized transforming vehicle, that when stopped, evolves into a rolling DJ booth and party. The Red Bull MXT drove through the tailgate area of the stadium where J-Roll mingled with fans and signed autographs, then was dropped off at the player's entrance of Citizen Bank Park and was greeted by more fans and media.

"This is exactly what I was looking forward to when I signed with Red Bull," said Rollins. "Not only am I a huge fan of the drink, the Red Bull world is never dull and constantly keeps me on my feet -- I look forward to a great partnership with them."

James Calvin "Jimmy" Rollins (born November 27, 1978 in Oakland, California), nicknamed "J-Roll," is an All-Star and MVP shortstop for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball. As a 2007 National League MVP player and back to back 2007/2008 National Gold Glove winner, Rollins graduated from Encinal High School and was selected to the All-USA High School Baseball team by USA Today after setting 10 school career records including steals (99) and batting average (.484). Rollins, a Baseball America 1st Team All-American, was a 2nd round selection by the Phillies in the 1996 June draft. He began rookie ball in Martinsville, and quickly worked his way through the Phillies farm system making his official debut as Phillies shortstop on September 17, 2000. Rollins, best known for his base running skills, has stolen at least 20 bases every season since 2001, with a career high of 47 in 2008. Rollins helped lead his team to victory in 2008 clenching a World Series title for the Phillies franchise. Aside from his love of baseball, Rollins has a passion for working with underprivileged kids and founded J Rolls Aces program which provides students from low income schools with tickets to several Phillies games. Rollins also hosts an annual Celebrity BASEBOWL Tournament which benefits the Juvenile Arthritis Foundation and the Rollins Family Foundation.
