SpiritBank Appeals to Merchants in New Markets Through Goldleaf's Merchant Capture Solution

Oklahoma Bank Solidifies Deposit and Loan Relationships, Expands Coast-to-Coast

ATLANTA, July 8, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Goldleaf Financial Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq:GFSI), a provider of integrated technology-based solutions designed to improve the performance of financial institutions, today announced that the $1.47 billion SpiritBank has reached a total of more than 200 merchants in 13 states, ranging from New York to California with SpiritBank Direct, its private labeled Merchant Capture solution.

With brick and mortar branches limited only to the state of Oklahoma, SpiritBank relies heavily on Goldleaf's remote deposit capture solution to extend -- as well as increase -- its deposits into new markets. Since its implementation, SpiritBank Direct has been functioning as an asset to increasing SpiritBank's deposits while building customer relationships, especially in the lending area.

"There is strong demand for remote deposit capture among businesses of all sizes, and it is constantly gaining traction as more business owners realize the benefits," said Rhonda Renz, senior vice president at SpiritBank Direct. "The solution improves office efficiencies for our customers, and once they transition to the ease and convenience of it, they do not go back. Of the more than 200 clients using SpiritBank Direct, we have never had a business give up its usage."

SpiritBank is also using the solution to enhance its lending program. SpiritBank Direct works hand-in-hand with SpiritBank business development officers to provide a seamless overall product offering and support. "We use merchant capture to solidify a customer's total banking relationship," Renz explained.

"SpiritBank is an excellent example of how a bank with a limited geographic reach can leverage remote deposit capture to win and maintain business on a national level," Lynn Boggs, CEO of Goldleaf Financial Solutions, said. "The bank is able to gain deposits from competitors nationwide with a solution that offers more convenience and provides added efficiencies that their neighborhood bank does not have. This is evidence of how Goldleaf enables financial institutions to succeed in today's competitive market, solidify their trusted financial relationships, expand their presence and improve their profitability through the efficient use of technology."
