Danialle Karmanos' Charity Outing Combines Yoga, Golf

Unique Event Will Benefit Well-Being Program for Children

DETROIT, Sept. 15, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In its inaugural golf outing Sept. 28, the Danialle Karmanos' Work It Out program has developed a new twist on the traditional charity event – yoga.

After the usual 18 holes, and before the dinner, silent auction and awards presentation, participants will be able to attend a yoga class led by Lila Lazarus and Billy Ritchie.

"Yoga is an excellent way to end a day on the golf course, and it perfectly complements our program for children," Karmanos said. "DKWIO's quality programming has equipped more than 2,000 kids with the tools to make healthy choices, and this outing will help us extend our outreach."

The event will be held at The Wyndgate, at 1975 W. Gunn Road in Rochester Hills.

The schedule:

11 a.m.-noon: registration and lunch

12:30: shotgun start

4:30-5:30 p.m.: yoga class

6 p.m.: dinner

Proceeds from the outing will benefit Danialle Karmanos' Work It Out, a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit program that uses a holistic and yoga-based approach to deliver children information and resources to prevent obesity, reduce anxiety and foster self-esteem.

Participants can register online at www.dkwio.org/events/golf.
