In 2010, Kalahari made strides towards finalizing the Tri-Brid design. New developments and enhancements took place, especially for the Solar Collector.
Wind and solar are fast becoming the leading sources of renewable energy. Kalahari Greentech designs, produces and provides solar collectors, wind turbines and other sustainable energy technologies. Kalahari's Solar Collector is a three-part "tri-brid" system that increases the efficiency of solar collection in one cost-effective unit. Kalahari's Wind Generator concentrates wind energy in a manner such that it can generate electric power at speeds usually too slow for conventional wind generators to produce any meaningful energy, or to even operate. It can also be modified to operate in water, and is safe for birds and wildlife.
In addition, Kalahari's engineering team has researched Nanofluid as an additive for the Solar Tri-Brid Generator. Nanofluid applications have the potential to increase solar thermal efficiency by approximately 10% with no redesign needed.
In August, Kalahari announced a special dividend of shares that commenced distribution on December 1, 2010. This entitled each Kalahari shareholder to one additional share per share owned as of the record date of October 18, 2010.
