ALAS Moves Into New Facilities

CLEARWATER, Fla., May 2, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ALAS Defense Systems, Inc. (Pink Sheets:VDSC), recently announced a name change to ALAS International Holdings, Inc., and has filed for the name change with the state of Nevada.

ALAS, an international project financing and holding investment corporation, today announced it has moved its Redtide Defense Division into new space that will be utilized for the manufacturing of UAVs and the setup of a carbon fiber composite fabrication shop. The facility, located adjacent to the Clearwater St. Petersburg International airport, provides easy access to the Interstate Highway and Tampa airport.

Carbon fiber has many different weave patterns and can be combined with a plastic resin and wound or molded to form composite materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastic (also referenced as carbon fiber) to provide a high strength-to-weight ratio material. The density of carbon fiber is also considerably lower than the density of steel, making it ideal for applications requiring low weight. The properties of carbon fiber such as high tensile strength, low weight, and low thermal expansion make it very popular in aerospace and is used by Redtide to construct our UAVs.

Edwin Salmon, President and CEO of ALAS, stated, "The facility provides additional space that is needed to streamline the manufacturing and final assembly process."
