Information Builders Releases Native App for iPad and iPhone

iPhone, iPad, Android, and BlackBerry Users Can Now Easily Access Business Intelligence Applications and Perform Mobile Analytics

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - Jun 13, 2011) - Information Builders, an independent leader in business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced at the 2011 Summit User Conference a free Mobile Faves application for iPad™ and iPhone®, the latest addition to its WebFOCUS toGo series of mobile offerings. Mobile Faves is available now on Apple's App Store.

Mobile Faves for iPad and iPhone provides workers and executives a native way to view, save, catalog, search, e-mail, and subscribe to pushed BI documents, such as Information Builders' Active Technology reports. New enhancements to WebFOCUS Active Technologies provide a device-specific user experience on mobile devices, including mobile menus, controls, gestures, and interactive charting. Using Active Technologies documents with Mobile Faves for iPad and iPhone results in a seamless combination of native device and mobile web capabilities.

With an automatically embedded analytics engine, Active Technology reports allow users to manipulate and analyze business information on a mobile device whether they are online or disconnected from a network. The Mobile Faves app also provides special features to allow customers to leverage their existing or legacy WebFOCUS BI content on Apple devices with no changes.

WebFOCUS toGo provides facilities and components so businesses can easily and economically deliver both new and existing WebFOCUS content to mobile users. For example, the existing WebFOCUS toGo Mobile Favorites portal enables any user to simply designate their existing web BI content to be easily accessible from any mobile device browser with no additional development. The new Mobile Faves app is a special client app to the portal to enhance this experience on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch platforms.

"Our mobile BI strategy is centered on providing users with the most functional and relevant options to meet their mobile device preference," said Gerald Cohen, CEO and president of Information Builders. "Unlike the competition, Mobile Faves with Active Technologies allows a business professional to view his data in transit as well as manipulate and analyze it."

"Mobilizing Dealer Services' business intelligence environment has been a key initiative for us this year and fully rolling out into next year," said Chris Brady, CIO, Dealer Services. "For our users to truly benefit from mobile BI we require that the user is able to not only view the critical data, but more importantly interact with it, manipulate, and navigate the data and dashboards. Information Builders' iPad solution will allow us to extend our BI capabilities to any handheld or tablet device, which is critical from a cost, usability, and adoption perspective."

With Active Technologies' chart engine, users can create charts from the data on the mobile devices rather than simply view pre-built charts. The innovative user interface (UI) makes it easier to create them on smaller phone screens. Also, with the automatic device detection feature, the UI dynamically changes to conform to any mobile device screen (e.g. Safari, Android™, or BlackBerry® browsers) or other non-mobile browsers. By implementing this automatic device detection into Active Technologies, Information Builders has eliminated the development effort required when the BI content needs to be built in a special way for each device.
