BIO-key International, Inc.(R) to Introduce Fingerprint Authentication App for the Apple iPad and iPhone; at the Allscripts Client Experience 2011

WALL, N.J., Aug. 29, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BIO-key International, Inc. (OTCBB:BKYI), a global leader in finger biometric identification technology solutions, today announced that the company will be presenting the latest innovations for the Apple iPad and Apple iPhone at the Allscripts Client Experience (ACE) August 29 – 31st 2011. The ACE event will be held at the Gaylord Opryland, in Nashville TN.

The new Allscripts was formed in August 2010 by the merger of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc. with the Eclipsys Corporation, creating the largest connected community of clients in healthcare. ACE offers two and a half days of educational sessions and networking opportunities presenting an ideal forum to demonstrate how the new iFMID (iOS Fingerprint Mobile Identification Device) for the iPad & iPhone can increase security, performance, compliance and convenience for healthcare providers accessing EMR & EHR records.

"The opportunity to introduce fingerprint authentication solutions for the iPad and iPhone at ACE could not be timelier.  BIO-key is committed to providing advanced solutions for EMR & EHR providers; BIO-key software meets the new DEA ePrescription compliance guidelines and the 2 factor requirements of the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.  Recently, upon presenting the new technology to an R&D manager at a leading EMR provider, he responded by saying BIO-key has hit a homerun for EMR providers with the new iPad solution," stated Randy Fodero, VP of Sales, BIO-key International Inc.

iFMID technology was developed by S.I.C. Biometrics, a Montreal Canada hardware and software technology company. S.I.C. designs, manufactures and internationally commercializes biometrics security products. On August 15, 2011, BIO-key International Inc. announced plans to acquire S.I.C. (Refer to the company website for more details about the planned acquisition. http://www.bio-key.com)

"Healthcare facilities and their staffs have aggressively adopted utilization of the iPad, because of its outstanding imaging capabilities and portability. With the introduction of iFMID technology, BIO-key is enabling users to authenticate using state of the art fingerprint biometric technology. Moving forward, healthcare professionals will be able to securely and compliantly log on to enterprise applications on their iPad by simply offering their fingerprint; a measurable improvement of the current password process," said Ben Hammel, Director of Identity Management Solutions, BIO-key International Inc.
