BIO-key(R) International, Inc. to Present Fingerprint ID Solutions for Blood Drives at the American Association of Blood Banks Annual Meeting & CTTXPO 2011

WALL, N.J., Oct. 20, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BIO-key International, Inc. (OTCBB:BKYI.OB), a global leader in finger biometric identification technology and advanced mobile identification solutions, today announced that the company will be presenting its fingerprint search and positive identification solutions for blood centers, including the latest advances in mobile identification technology, ideal for mobile blood drives as well as the dynamic environment of fixed site collections, at the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) Annual Meeting & CTTXPO 2011. The AABB's 64th annual meeting will be held in San Diego, California on Saturday October 22nd through Tuesday October 25th, and BIO-key will be located at Booth # 2043.

BIO-key currently provides biometric fingerprint identification technology to the Institute for Transfusion Medicine (ITxM), Indiana Blood Center (IBC), and the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI). In each case, compliance, security, accuracy, ease of deployment and affordability (ROI) were key factors in selecting BIO-key.

BIO-key's custom solution for donor search and positive identification is TruDonor ID, an easy to deploy, and simple to use fingerprint identification software technology that can be seamlessly incorporated for any blood center. BIO-key's TruDonor ID software delivers measurable benefits for blood centers that are seeking to meet FDA positive identification requirements, prevent and detect duplicate donors and streamline the entire blood collection process. Beyond simply verifying a donor that has been found by staff, BIO-key TruDonor automates the search for that donor before making a positive ID, in a single step. At this year's AABB event, BIO-key will showcase its groundbreaking Fingerprint Mobile Identification Device (FMID) technology for the Apple iPad and iPhone, as well as its support for Android devices, bringing new touch-point devices into play for its donor identification platform. FMID technology was developed by S.I.C. Biometrics, a hardware and software technology company located in Montreal, Canada. FMID was designed to support, secure and deliver convenient mobile donor identification at the facility or at a mobile blood drive. FMID technology combined with BIO-key software offers world class speed and accuracy for compliant donor identification.

"BIO-key is proud of the trust that our customers have placed with us in partnering to streamline their donor interactions. All of our customers have emphasized that our ability to search for, as well as positively identify, a donor bring a huge efficiency boost to their existing processes," stated Jim Sullivan, Director of Sales, BIO-key International, Inc. "By automating positive ID at donor registration, donor screening, as well as phlebotomy, BIO-key customers' staff can focus on enhancing the gift of life experience for their donors, not wasting time trying to avoid misidentification and duplicate donors. Many of the conversations I have with blood center executives across the country start with their hope that there has to be a better way to do this necessary, but error-prone process. We are pleased to be making their hope a reality, with efficient and low-cost search and ID solutions that their donors can live with," added Sullivan.
