SoundBite Communications Earns Level 1 PCI Re-Certification

Global Re-Certification Demonstrates SoundBite's Commitment to Client Data and Information Security

BEDFORD, Mass., Nov. 30, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SoundBite Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:SDBT) today announced it has achieved its annual re-certification as a Level 1 Service Provider compliant with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS), in both the United States and Europe.

SoundBite's Level 1 PCI re-certification underscores the company's commitment to information security and solidifies its reputation as an industry leader. The PCI DSS is the credit card industry information security standard for merchants and service providers that store, process, or transmit cardholder data. Organizations, including financial institutions, credit card issuers, retailers and others, that outsource the processing of cardholder information and for which security is a priority, require that their service providers undergo the rigorous PCI certification process. This is the fourth consecutive year that SoundBite has achieved Level 1 certification for all sites. Earlier this year SoundBite had expanded its certification to include its London-area datacenter and UK-based operations.

"SoundBite holds itself to the highest standards and I am pleased that we have once again renewed our PCI Certification as a Level 1 Service Provider," stated John Nye, Director of Information Security and Compliance. "We take the protection of our client's information very seriously and, to that end, have ensured that best practices for information protection have become a core element of our company's operations. SoundBite's broad and mature security program is a key asset on which both we and our clients depend."

The annual PCI Assessment included in-depth analysis of SoundBite's compliance with the twelve high-level requirements of the PCI DSS and included testing of over 200 specific controls by an external, Qualified Security Assessor as sanctioned by the PCI Security Standards Council. More broadly, SoundBite's security program includes not only the controls necessary to meet the requirements of PCI DSS, but also the additional controls required to meet compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996, the The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) of 2009, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) of 2001, all state privacy regulations including Massachusetts Privacy and California SB 1386, and the UK Data Protection Act of 1998.  By meeting these security and regulatory standards, SoundBite assures its clients and channel partners in the financial services, retail, telecom and media, healthcare and collection and risk management industries that their information is appropriately protected.
