ONCE TV MEXICO Debuting New Original Programs in February


Drama Series "XY" Explores Men's Relationships and Sexual Issues;

the Musical Performance Series "Sesiones de Reactor" Brings a Wide Range of Musical Artists and Styles to the Small Screen;

"Viaje Todo Incluyente" Follows Five Young Adventurers with Disabilities as They Explore the World and Share Their Unique Experiences;

and "Yo sólo sé que no he cenado" Travels Throughout Mexico Exploring Various Regions' Food Specialties

MIAMI, Jan. 27, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ONCE TV MÉXICO, a unit of Instituto Politécnico Nacional, is premiering four new original series beginning in February.

Debuting on Thursday, February 2 at 12 midnight (Eastern)/9 p.m. (Pacific), is the controversial new drama series "XY" starring Juan Carlos Barreto (Bajo la Sal, Backyard), Javier Díaz Dueñas (Drenaje Profundo), Eduardo Arroyuelo (Use as Directed), Mauricio Isaac (El Infierno) and Claudio Lafarga (Viernes de Ánimas: El camino de las flores).   The men explore real-life situations delving into such issues as male intimacy, homosexuality, expectations, relationships, infidelity, money, unemployment and other conflicts that arise in everyday life. 

The series, produced by Once TV Mexico and Nao Films is produced and directed by Patricia Arriaga and Emilio Maillé from an original screenplay by Anahí López, was nominated as Best Drama Series at the recent Monte Carlo Television Festival for encouraging "a new form of artistic expression in the service of peace and harmony among men." Perla Martínez is executive producer, Diego Rodríguez is director of photography and Gloria Carrasco is the art director for the series.

Another exciting new series, "Sesiones de Reactor," presents intimate performances from some of today's most fascinating alternative music artists. Premiering on Saturday, February 4 at 1:30am (Eastern)/10:30p.m. (Pacific), each of the 13 weekly episodes of "Sesiones de Reactor" is hosted by respected music and radio host Lleana "La Reclu" Rodríguez. Shot at Instituto Mexicano de la Radio (IMER), each exclusive performance also includes in-depth interviews revealing the musicians' passion, inspiration and musical vision. 

Among the musical artists featured in the series are La Gusana Ciega, an alternative rock band that came out of the 90s underground scene in Mexico City; Niña, a band from Monterrey that are among the forerunners of Mexico's Indie movement; Los Daniels, from the Distrito Federal; Los abominables, the girl band led by "the Abulón" which is one of Mexico's most controversial rock bands; one of Mexico's most important bands, DLD; the girl group Ruido Rosa; the popular La Barranca; Fernando Rivera Calderon's Monocordio; Chilean group Los Bunkers known for their 60s inspired melodies; singer Carla Morrison; rock band Jumbo; the Nortec Collective presents: Clorofila, which blends banda, norteña and cumbia with electronic music and is led by Jorge Verdin; and Enjambre, a band originally from Zacatecas which evolved in Los Angeles, California before coming to Mexico City to play a leading role in the indie rock scene.

On Monday, February 13, at 11:30p.m. (Eastern)/ 8:30p.m. (Pacific), Once TV Mexico introduces viewers to five extraordinary young adventurers in the inspiring reality series "Viaje Todo Incluyente."   Following Joaquin Alva Ruiz Cabañas, Jocelyn, Julius Caesar, Alejandra Martinez and Abel, the series demonstrates that in Mexico, it's possible to enjoy tourist activities and extraordinary experiences in spite of having physical and/or mental disabilities.

Joaquin, a 35-year-old entrepreneur serves as the leader of the VTI group and is a wheelchair-bound traveler. A passionate swimmer, Joaquin is director general of Truinfador-es.com, a company dedicated to creating content that promotes a new and positive image of people with disabilities. He is joined by Jocelyn, 26, an insurance agent who loves to sing and is blind. Julio César, 21, a graphic design student and a computer enthusiast who has a great sense of humor and is deaf. Alejandra, 22, is a language teacher for deaf-mutes and a movie-buff who is deaf and mute herself. And Abel, 21, is a student who loves to dance and who is also deaf and mute.

Each 24-minute episode of "Viaje Todo Incluyente" follows the young adventurers to various tourist destinations in Mexico. Viewers get to know each location, see the local accommodations and how the young adventurers prepare for the various tourist activities they've decided to try themselves. The adventurers share their thoughts as they push themselves beyond their limits in an attempt to enjoy the same experiences of other travelers, giving a whole new meaning to the term all inclusive. The series is co-produced by Carlos Prieto (La Ruta del Sabor, Mochila al Hombro).

On Saturday, February 25 at 9:30p.m. (Eastern)/6:30p.m. (Pacific), Once TV México introduces viewers to "Yo sólo sé que no he cenado," a new series that combines a love of food with travel.

Hosted by actor and producer Bruno Bichir, the show travels to different locations in Mexico, discovering the people, culture and history of that region through its food. Bichir takes the audience on an epicurean journey to Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo, San Luis Potosí, Baja California Sur, Sinaloa, Campeche, Chiapas, Morelos, el Estado de México and Morelos, tasting the local delicacies offered by food stands in the street, markets, cantinas, popular eateries and luxurious restaurants. Bichir also engages the locals to learn more about their culinary history and traditions, providing a unique insight into the flavors and magic behind typical local dishes in this delectable co-production from Producciones Escarabajo, Jorge Contreras and Jorge Sigler.
