Perma-Fix Expands Services to Include Radiological and Industrial Hygiene Instrumentation Rental, Repair and Calibration

ATLANTA, March 13, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. (Nasdaq:PESI) announces that it has expanded its services to include radiological and industrial hygiene instrumentation rental, repair and calibration. Perma-Fix' instrumentation laboratory comprises one of the country's largest commercial instrument inventories, as well as the largest routine calibration capacity available.

Dr. Louis F. Centofanti, Chairman and CEO, stated, "We are committed to constantly expanding our scope of services and providing the latest technologies to our customers. We now offer professional consultation for custom instrumentation, application and development. We also provide specialty instrumentation services that respond to today's nuclear industry trend toward decontamination and decommissioning (D&D), as well as environmental remediation support."

A key example of the Company's support of client D&D and environmental remediation efforts include our state-of-the-art ISOCS/LabSOCS gamma spectroscopy and survey instrumentation coupled with global positioning systems (GPS). Perma-Fix has utilized radiological instrumentation together with GPS to produce precise field measurements on CAD-quality survey maps.

Dr. Centofanti continued, "For more than 15 years, we have investigated, identified and provided instrument modification and customized solutions by tackling difficult problems and providing the right equipment to our customers. The modified detection systems are designed to save the client time and money. In addition, the modified system is often automated, further reducing manpower needs."

"Perma-Fix strives to maintain an innovative approach that sets us apart from other providers by identifying alternative radiological monitoring and surveying approaches to help our clients achieve their goals. For example, the laboratory team has created customized, scope specific gamma and alpha/beta radiation survey detection systems that address our clients' unique challenges."

All calibrations are performed to the requirements of ANSI N323A, 1997 unless otherwise requested. Perma-Fix Instrumentation Services operates under our newly acquired subsidiary Safety & Ecology Corp (SEC) Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Division of Radiological Health, Radioactive Material License numbers R-47161 and R-47209.
