LightPointe Sees Success "Down Under," as Its Wireless Broadband Bridges Sell to Government and Enterprise Customers in Australia

Sales up 180% at LightPointe Due to Global Push for Faster Broadband Infrastructure

SAN DIEGO, CA and MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA--(Marketwire - Aug 6, 2012) -   LightPointe Communications, Inc. announced that its outdoor wireless bridges are being deployed in numerous locations in Australia as the country continues to build out broadband infrastructure. LightPointe manufactures point-to-point Gigabit capacity 4th generation wireless bridges which utilize the three dominant technologies for such links, providing building-to-building and tower-to-tower high speed wireless connectivity. The company has deployed its Free Space Optics bridges, millimeter wave e-band radios and hybrid optical-radios to government agencies and businesses in Australia, which due to its vast geographic territory represents a challenge for broadband infrastructure.

"Australia continues to represent one of our best markets for wireless bridges, and these latest orders from government and enterprise customers further substantiate the widespread acceptance of our radio frequency and optical products for the challenging geographic and environmental conditions in Australia," said John Taylor, vice president of sales for LightPointe. "We've worked hard to develop a strong customer support organization in the country, consisting of leading wireless distributors, resellers and integration partners. As the Australian Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy continues its drive to enable all Australians to realize the full potential of broadband connectivity via the National Broadband Network, small businesses have sprung to action to deploy the backbone infrastructure for the rollout. This effort includes enterprise and government applications, such as connectivity for hospitals, public safety, military and business campuses. Many of LightPointe's wireless bridges have won accolades in these installations due to their Gigabit capacity, low latency, ease of installation and affordability. We offer the fastest, lowest latency broadband links in the world and the lowest cost GigE wireless bridge. Plus, most of our solutions are license free and immune to RF interference and congestion issues."

LightPointe, which is the only manufacturer designing and producing all three of the leading wireless bridge technologies, has seen demand for its products increase to historic levels the past year and a half. July revenues were up over 180%, compared to last year. And this increase has come at a time when many of the company's competitors have announced additional venture capital rounds or resource reductions.

"We chose to partner with LightPointe because they offer the latest secure wireless technologies, provide excellent ROI, and their products have a common unified management interface which is easy to use," said Sam Cantwell, director at MYCOM, a leading Melbourne based provider of data, voice, video and security solutions and a reseller of one of LightPointe's distributors in Australia, LAN1. "The products have proven very reliable and the value can't be beat for our enterprise and government applications. In addition to recent government and military bid wins, we see the rapid transformation of data storage and transmission requirements within the healthcare sector due to 3D imaging, video conferencing, telehealth applications and the need to maintain patient privacy of data."

LightPointe attributes its renaissance in growth and customer satisfaction to new products introduced the past year, including 60 GHz and 80 GHz 4G/LTE radios, and to enhanced marketing and channel partner support worldwide. Demand from enterprise customers upgrading to Gigabit capacity, and from telecom carriers deploying LTE small cell backhaul infrastructure, are also fueling growth. LightPointe's Free Space Optics bridges have proven popular due to businesses increasingly becoming concerned about protecting their data from eavesdropping, which is virtually impossible with point to point laser communications. In addition, LightPointe's FSO bridges provide the fastest, lowest latency connection in the industry, faster than fiber optics and faster than all other wired or wireless technologies.

MYCOM and LightPointe have a new case study available on each company's website.
