Over $2Million in Art Masterpieces at ASTA Annual Show - Ed Copley Joins the Elite Group of Living Artists Shown at ASTA Art Show

"His work now appears on our ARC Living Masters Gallery on our website as does the work of his Grandfather, John Singleton Copley. Although their work is clearly from two different time periods, it is always a pleasure to see that the artistic quality in the family remained fully intact. Ed is a wonderful addition to the ARC family and we are looking forward to his newest works and exhibitions."

– Kara Lysandra Ross, Director of Operations for the Art Renewal Center.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 14, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The American Society of Traditional Artists announces the Scottsdale 2012 ASTA Annual Show at Open Range Gallery, 7077 East Main Street in the prestigious Scottsdale Arts District of Arizona. Centrally located on Main Street among many quality high end art galleries, luxury shops and fine dining, the ASTA show will attract art lovers and art collectors from all over the world.

The Scottsdale ASTA Annual Show is a five week held from October 8th, 2012 thru November 10th, 2012. Over $2Million in art masterpieces will be available for sale. Featured events include a red carpet opening celebration, an Awards Gala and Auction with 100% of the auction proceeds benefiting the Arizona Art Alliance and conclude the November 2012 First Thursday Art Walk – the first Art Walk of the winter season.

ASTA founder Ed Copley is excited about the upcoming show and exhibition.

"Our ASTA artists are some of the most important artists in the world. The ASTA show will have works from all over the world – exclusive masterpieces by today's living masters that have never been shown before," shared Copley. "We are all committed to art education programs and are delighted to support the programs of the Arizona Art Alliance with the proceeds from our Auction, held at the Awards Gala Dinner on Saturday, October 13, 2012."

Al Arne of the Arizona Art Alliance, is also pleased with the ASTA alliance.

"The Arizona Art Alliance conducts charitable art education and art mentoring programs that benefit the lives of disadvantaged and disabled youth as well as seniors at risk. The proceeds from art sales, donations, and grants help to make such life-enriching community outreach programs possible," said Arne. "The ASTA donation will enhance art therapy programs for PTSD veterans, Alzheimer patients, at-risk kids and other educational outreach."

The ASTA Annual Show will include several Living Master artists, a very elite award from The Art Renewal Center. Known as a modern-day old master, Copley paints with an 'old master' technique - mixing his own paints, adding glazes, stretching his own canvas and even carving a frame for that special masterpiece. As for Ed Copley's artistic genes, John Singleton Copley (http://www.artrenewal.org/pages/artist.php?artistid=713) was the greatest American painter of the 18th century. His great, great, great grandson Ed Copley exquisitely follows in those footsteps in the 21st century.

"I am very pleased that our esteemed judges saw fit to give Ed the title of ARC Associate Living Master™ and welcome him to the elite group of living artists shown in the ARC Museum. The process for acceptance into the ARC Living Artist and Master's Gallery ™ is a rigorous one, where an artist's work must be reviewed by a panel of at least four Judges who consist of well published art scholars and master instructors whose presage is undeniable," said Kara Lysandra Ross, Director of Operations for the Art Renewal Center.

Ross continues, "His work now appears on our website as does the work of his Grandfather, John Singleton Copley. Although their work is clearly from two different time periods, it is always a pleasure to see that the artistic quality in the family remained fully intact. Ed is a wonderful addition to the ARC family and we are looking forward to his newest works and exhibitions."

"If you have ever stood in awe in front of a great painting and wondered how on earth they created it then you can understand why restoration work can be so challenging," Copley said. "Answers to the mystery of how they painted came via my work in the restoration and conservation of old paintings. Art restoration is a highly specialized field that requires several unrelated skills from its practitioners. Those who excel in art restoration are combination scientist, historian, artist and exceptionally talented craftsman all rolled into one."

About Ed Copley

Working from his studio in Scottsdale, Arizona, Ed is a man of many visions. He is equally as comfortable painting a landscape of the Sonoran Desert with its majestic saguaro cacti piercing a storm tossed summer sky, a Tarahumara Indian woman with a weathered face, or a classical image of the Blessed Virgin Mary. No matter what the subject, he portrays it with realistic depth and brilliance, attempting only to bring it to life in a most exquisite manner. His representational style draws together many techniques dating back to the renaissance, masterful and painstaking skills that have nearly vanished.

NEXT for Ed Copley – The Legend of Hiawatha is a traveling museum exhibition complete with a beautifully illustrated book. The show will premiere in 2013.
