West Greenwich Veterinarian Hosts 3rd Annual Animal Hospital Open House

WEST GREENWICH, R.I., Sept. 23, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- West Greenwich Animal Hospital is inviting pet owners to attend the clinic's "Spooktacular Open House" on October 14, 2012. Events include a dog bite prevention demonstration, pet costume contest, pet emergency tips/First Aid demonstration, police dog demonstration, and raffle. Family-friendly activities will feature face painting, an arts and crafts table, and a "Teddy Bear Clinic" for injured stuffed animals. The veterinary team will also be on hand to answer questions about general pet medicine. The Open House is from noon to 3:00 p.m.

West Greenwich veterinarians Dr. Ralph Pratt and Dr. Amy Pratt announced that their animal hospital will host its third annual open house on October 14, 2012. The "Spooktacular Open House" will feature information about companion animal care and family-friendly activities.

"The goal of our Open House is to demonstrate pet and health awareness information," said Dr. Amy Pratt. "This is a great opportunity to learn more about general pet medicine. For example, many pet owners are not sure what to do if a health emergency strikes their pet. We will be offering tips at the clinic for handling pet emergencies, along with way to prevent dog bites."

Educational events include the First Aid demonstration and dog bite prevention demonstration. The Rhode Island Police Dog Association will offer a K9 Unit demonstration at 1 p.m.

"Our annual open house is always a popular event here in the Greenwich pet community," said Dr. Ralph Pratt. "We encourage all pet owners to bring the family, including their pets. In keeping with our 'Spooktacular' theme, we will be hosting a Halloween pet costume contest, so dressing up is encouraged!"

Whiskers Pet Portraits will be on site to take family portrait photos of pets and their owners. Families with young children will enjoy face painting and the veterinary-themed arts and crafts table. Young children can also bring their stuffed animals for treatment at the "Teddy Bear Clinic." This clinic is an opportunity for the veterinary team to demonstrate to children the importance of responsible pet ownership.

The Open House will also include a raffle with veterinary care and other great prizes. All raffle proceeds will benefit the RISPCA and the Rhode Island Police Working Dog Association.

In addition to the family activities and veterinary care demonstrations, Dr. Amy and Ralph Pratt, along with their veterinary care team, will provide general pet medicine information. Pet owners may ask a West Greenwich veterinarian questions about vaccinations, annual check-ups or other wellness care.

The animal hospital provides wellness care, including spay/neuter operations, vaccinations, dermatology and pet dentistry, for the Coventry, East Greenwich, Richmond, Foster, Scituate, Sterling C.T. and other neighboring pet communities
