Andrea Clark- Chairman, CEO and Founder of HRAA named Mentor of the Year of the 18th Annual AHIMA Triumph Awards

CHICAGO, IL, Oct. 2, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Health Revenue Assurance Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB: HRAA),- leading provider of revenue integrity services for healthcare organizations is pleased to announce that Andrea Clark was awarded the Mentor of the Year Award part of the 18th Annual AHIMA Triumph Awards.  The award presentations were made on October 1, 2012 during AHIMA's 84th Annual Convention and Exhibit in Chicago.

"AHIMA has a cherished tradition of honoring professionals who inspire others and whose efforts have enriched the health information management field," said AHIMA CEO Lynne Thomas Gordon, MBA, RHIA, CAE, FACHE, FAHIMA. "I'm happy to congratulate these Triumph Award recipients who have made a positive difference to our profession."

The AHIMA Triumph Awards are designed to recognize those special individuals who have made a difference in the HIM profession. The Awards honor leadership in the HIM field, reward contributions that build a knowledge base, recognize excellence in preparing future HIM professionals, and encourage new leadership. Andrea was chosen as the candidate that best exemplifies a rare professional who touches lives and launches professionals toward new horizons by establishing a Coding Mentorship program.

"Receiving this award is such an amazing honor.  The fact that I can take HIM students that possess "acorns" of coding knowledge and grow them into mighty oaks by sharing my skills and experience continues to put a smile of my face.  As the healthcare industry quickly faces I-10 challenges that include specialized training and coding productivity apprehensions, it is imperative to replenish the workforce and provide newly credentialed students, individuals and veterans with healthcare experience the opportunity to flourish in a career in the world of coding," said Andrea.

In an industry where the average age of a coder is 54, Andrea knew the future needs of the healthcare industry could never be sustained with that demographic.  She embarked on a mission to build her own team to supply the best talent to her customers.  In the past eight months, Andrea has hired over 50 coders, along with 14 new coders as part of her Coding Mentorship Program. In hiring these recent graduates, Andrea provided in-depth education and taught them how to code in a real life environment, thus enabling them to hone their skills, get credentialed and reach their full potential. Andrea's continued passion for mentoring new professionals gives her students confidence to strive for excellence in the HIM profession, now and in the future.

"Andrea's knowledge has helped to mold the quality coding environment we have today.  In view of her long, successful and distinguished career and mentoring work, I cannot imagine a more worthy candidate," said Diane Kramanak - Administrative Director, HIM for Summa Health System.
