Probiotic Documentary Film Moves Forward

ISAPP Collaborates on Second Part of the "Microwarriors Series"

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Jan 21, 2013) - "After months of planning and discussion, I'm pleased to announce that as of January 21, 2013 the second part of the Microwarriors trilogy, 'Microwarriors: The Origin and the Destiny,' will officially be going into production, according to Executive Producer, David Knight with Health Point Productions.

"My goal for the film is that it will not only be entertaining and interesting, but it will highlight some of the latest scientific research in probiotics from around the world. In order to help achieve this goal I'm thrilled that the International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP) has agreed to become a Major Sponsor for Microwarriors 2. We strongly support ISAPP, which is an international, non-profit organization committed to the idea that all probiotic and prebiotic products should be scientifically substantiated and responsibly marketed," says Knight.

Mary Ellen Sanders, Ph.D. Executive Director for the ISAPP comments, "The film is well-aligned with our mission to promote the science behind probiotics and prebiotics, and ISAPP is excited about the opportunity to bring its renowned scientific expertise in the areas of probiotics, prebiotics, and human microbiota to the film."

"Microwarriors: The Origin the Destiny" will feature an "all-star" line-up of internationally renowned scientists headed by Gregor Reid, PhD (Professor of Microbiology and Surgery, University of Western Ontario and Chair of Human Microbiology and Probiotics, Lawson Health Research Institute, Canada), including Mary Ellen Sanders, PhD (Executive Director of ISAPP and Consultant for Dairy and Food Technologies, Colorado), Glenn Gibson, PhD (Professor of Food Microbiology, University of Reading, UK), Jeremy K. Nicholson, PhD (Head of the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College London, UK), Eamonn Quigley, MD (Professor of Medicine and Human Physiology, Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre, University College Cork, Ireland), Willem de Vos, PhD (University of Wageningen, The Netherlands and University of Helsinki, Finland), Sven Pettersson, PhD (Professor at the Karolinska Hospital, Sweden), Fredrik Bäckhed, PhD (Professor, University of Gothenburg, Sweden) and Dr. Wendy Garrett (Assistant Professor, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA)

"The film will be an adventure, a journey, a learning experience. It will be a drama that teases and questions each of us to look within at how we treat a part of us that has too long been ignored -- our bacteria with whom so much depends," says Dr. Reid.
