RALEIGH REGIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS(R) Reports More Than 600 Open Houses Scheduled for Nationwide Weekend

RALEIGH, N.C., April 18, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Purchasing a home is one of the most important decisions in a person's life and deciding on a particular house comes with many options. Forty-five percent of recent buyers used open houses as a way to narrow their choices and find their dream home.

Buyers in the Raleigh region have the opportunity to do just that April 20 and 21 as REALTORS® hold open houses all weekend long as part of the Realtor® Nationwide Open House Weekend. "This event is a great way for buyers to get an idea of what they can afford and what kinds of homes are available in the local market. It's also a chance for sellers to market their home and attract potential buyers," said Asa Fleming, President of the Raleigh Regional Association of REALTORS® (RRAR).

"REALTORS® in our area have scheduled more than 600 open houses for this weekend. With Pending and Closed sales both up twenty-five percent over this time last year, spring in our region is off to a very positive start," Fleming continued.

The most recent Triangle Multiple Listing Service, Inc. (TMLS) numbers indicate that inventory levels are a fourth of what they were at this time last year and the days on the market are down 16 percent.   That means today's buyers are competing for fewer homes and must act more quickly because homes are selling at a faster rate. Whether you are ready to buy a home or just starting to consider it, this weekend's Nationwide Open House is sure to help you reach your goals.
