EMERYVILLE, Calif., May 2, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CEP America wishes to congratulate Savoy Brummer, MD, Emergency Department (ED) Medical Director at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill., who has received the ED Medical Director of the Year Award from Blue Jay Consulting, the Emergency Medicine Foundation, and the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).

The Blue Jay Consulting/Emergency Medicine Foundation Director of the Year Award is presented to a current emergency physician leader who has made, through collaboration with nursing, a significant impact on improving the operations of his/her department, resulting in improvements in the quality of patient care.
In addition to his work as medical director, Dr. Brummer is currently the chair-elect of the Democratic Section for the American College of Emergency Physicians and a member of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. He also serves as CEP America's Vice President of Practice Development and has been a CEP America Partner since 2011.
CEP America has managed and staffed the emergency department at Memorial Hospital since 2012. In that time, Dr. Brummer and his team have transitioned the department from 60 percent locums to being fully-staffed by dedicated attending physicians; reduced the time to provider (TTP) by 80 percent to 17 minutes; and seen the left without being seen (LWBS) rate fall to 0.8 percent.
